Caring for more than 100,000 patient each year, many of which who come from across Canada, The Ottawa Heart Institute is the primary cardiac referral centre for Eastern Ontario and well beyond. Offering satellite clinics and outreach programs throughout the Ottawa Valley, each year patients travel from Canada to receive treatment. Through the generous philanthropic support of individuals, businesses, and community events, the Foundation raises funds that power innovative patient-centred care, ground-breaking research, state-of-the-art-equipment, cardiovascular prevention & rehabilitation patient programs, and education. With physical inactivity being an independent risk factor that has a significant impact on numerous chronic conditions, especially cardiovascular disease, we are so excited to partner with local businesses and residents to work towards our fundraising goal for this year. The smallest increases in physical activity at any age have been proven to slow down disease development and progression, ultimately reducing chronic conditions by 20% to 50%, so if that is not reason enough to participate, we hope raising money for this wonderful institute will be!
