Rooted For You is a nonprofit organization & 501c3 recognized, who focus on uplifting and encouraging seniors & youth in low socioeconomic areas. We are established and rooted in Dallas, Texas. In 2020 during the beginning of the pandemic the Rooted for You was birthed after noticing our seniors were being neglected in low socioeconomic senior living homes that are typically funded by the state; and aren't kept up to code. But due to the pandemic, many priorities withered, and the seniors were mostly affected. We create small care-packages or gifts for the seniors to encourage them through these trying times in the world. During our fall months we gather donations ranging from clothing (socks, hats, scarves) and blankets to help comfort the seniors and remind them they are a piece of wisdom that is rooted in us. We also gift the wonderful staff workers small fun beverages (hot cocoa cups) or snacks (cookies, popcorn baskets, pretzels, etc…) a small token of appreciation to say thank you for your loyal service. During the warmer months (spring/summer) we create fingerpainting packages for the seniors to create flowers to hang on their doors to remind them to blossom daily. Although Rooted for You Nonprofit is small now, the ideas and love we have for our community can not be matched.
As a former teacher, I understand the importance of building relationships that nourish and blossom all parties involved. We also host a mentoring platform for high school students in low socioeconomic areas who lack stability in their home and social skills that'll help them progress in the future. My tenure with teaching high school students enlightened me to the areas of focus many individuals overlook. I decided to build a safe space for students to bloom and tap into their self to really dig into their core to water the seed planted in them. We mentor junior & senior students to help guide them to planning their future with no limits. Our youth are phenomenal and when equipped with the tools they can be anything they choose to be. Sometimes they just need a small push.
The core values of Rooted for You are to water our roots (encouraging our senior community) and help establishing our future (building our youth to be the leaders that they truly are). While we have made some great strides, Rooted for You still has a lot to accomplish. We need your support to help with our fall/winter events. Donations we’re seeking include blankets, socks, stocking caps/beanies, school supplies (back-to-school backpacks for our youth when they return in January), & monetary gifts to go towards scholarships & supplies that are awarded at the end of May the present school year.
