I am writing to you on behalf of my organization, SafeRides, at James Madison University. SafeRides is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, student run organization that works to prevent drunk driving within the Harrisonburg community by providing free, sober rides to JMU students. Additionally, our mission includes educating the JMU community about the dangers of driving while intoxicated. Since 2007 when SafeRides began operating, rates of drunk driving have fallen by 30% in Rockingham County.

This spring we will be hosting our eighth annual Gala, an event where the local community will come together for a night of silent auctions, speakers, and fundraising to fight back against drunk driving. With the support of the community, we hope to raise enough money to continue our mission.

We are asking for donations of any kind to go towards the raffles or silent auction to make our eighth annual Gala a success. All donors will have their company logo printed and affixed to our advertisement space within SafeRides’ cars the weekend of Gala. In addition, every donation is tax deductible; please contact us for our tax information if this applies to you.

We are counting on our extended community to help us in our ongoing fight against drunk driving. With your help, SafeRides will continue serving the students of James Madison University and the local Harrisonburg community!
