Seattle Country Day School (SCDS) is an independent, nonprofit school, located on Queen Anne, that serves gifted children in grades K–8. Our mission is to inspire gifted children to reach their potential through inquiry, curiosity, and wonder — and our vision is to cultivate the next generation of creative problem-solvers for tomorrow’s complex problems. Central to the SCDS experience is a teaching method called guided inquiry, where teachers promote children’s natural curiosity by encouraging them to question and explore. In addition to prioritizing academics, SCDS also emphasizes cultivating students’ awareness of themselves and their society through classes that focus on concepts related to social-emotional learning and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
