STEPS is a 501C3 nonprofit organization that provides individuals with an opportunity for a better life. It was designed to help those who are willing to change, by equipping them with the tools, resources, and encouragement they need. STEPS, originally called 'The International Joseph Project', was started to address the root causes that keep people in poverty and crisis. At STEPS, we believe in the dignity and worth of every person. Our job is to locate hindrances, physical or otherwise, that stand between an individual and their success and help them to rectify those hindrances however possible.

STEPS not only looks at the immediate needs of the individual or family but also at their long-term well-being. The aim is not to provide a band-aid, but to provide long-term solutions. At no cost to the client(s), STEPS provides life coaching services and a customized life plan to help them break the chains of poverty, negativity, unhealthy lifestyles, or whatever it is that is hindering their success. After the client has completed the program requirements, we celebrate their achievements at our annual STEPS graduation ceremony.

We hold quarterly assessments with every client for two years to evaluate progress, maintain accountability, and offer support. Referrals are made to various agencies to help meet the client's needs. Our Life Skills University curriculum is also a part of the client's journey. Through education, we are able to help our clients develop and strengthen the necessary skills to maintain their success on the job, at work, at home, and in the community. We created an assessment to help us quantify and measure our results called the CFA (Comprehensive Functioning Assessment) tool. This assessment is given to every client at every quarterly meeting with their case manager.

Change is not easy but we believe it is possible. We are very proud of the 145 graduates who successfully completed the program over the past ten years and look forward to many more that we are able to help create a better life for themselves and their families.
