The Tampa Housing Authority (THA) was incorporated in 1937 and provides housing opportunities to 25,362 residents within the public and assisted housing programs in the Tampa area. THA operates 3,026 affordable housing units and administers 9,403 Housing Choice Vouchers. The agency also provides a wide array of supportive services to its residents. THA has been recognized as a high performer by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and as a leader within the public housing industry. In 2018, THA developed a Five-Year (2019-2023) Strategic Plan that will guide the organization in meeting defined measurable benchmarks that will continue past excellence and build additional competence fostered by innovation and performance. As a part of this planning process, the mission statement was streamlined and updated to "Cultivating Affordable Housing While Empowering People and Communities".
