Our mission is to provide free and low-cost tennis for kids and adults in our community of Mansfield, TX. We also have a yearly fundraising event to donate the proceeds of the event to a local charity.
In 2019, TEAM, aka, Tennis Education Association by MATA was created to be the fundraising arm for Mansfield Area Tennis Association (MATA). MATA has been established in this community since 2012, with the same mission statement above. TEAM and MATA are under the umbrella of the United States Tennis Association and Greater Fort Worth Tennis Coalition. They expect us to deliver quality tennis to everyone in our community. When we teach kids in the elementary and intermediate schools in Mansfield, there is no charge for our time and instruction. We offer low-cost tennis workshops and leagues through the Mansfield Activities Center every spring and fall. During the summer, we provide low-cost week-long tennis camps for the kids only. We rely on volunteers that have been background checked and complete the USTA's SafePlay training, in order to work with kids on the courts. Our tennis workshops book up quickly and we usually have a waitlist to play with TEAM and MATA. Last year, our volunteers logged over 600 hours of their time to help teach these kids and adults.
For the past 5 years, TEAM has sponsored the Raise Your Racquet for Rae Jean Tennis Tournament and Silent Auction Fundraiser. It will be held this year on November 12, 2022 at Walnut Creek Country Club in Mansfield, TX. This tournament and fundraiser has distributed over $15,000 to local charities, Susan G. Komen, Mansfield Mission Food Pantry, Harvesting in Mansfield Foodbank, and last year we helped a nursing student with tuition to attend the Texas Tech school at the Mansfield Methodist Medical Center campus. The tournament and silent auction fundraiser donate all the proceeds to a local charity we pick. This year, we have selected Alliance for Children, a children's advocacy center to help kids and families. We believe it is better to keep kids out of the courts and on the tennis court.
We are looking for community sponsors that will donate something to our silent auction. Your organization would be a great fit for an auction prize.
