Our Post is located at 4436 Valleyfield, San Antonio, Tx 78222, We are a non-profit organization; our Tax ID# 23-7314972, Employer Identification # is 74-0964465, Group Exemption # is 1723, and Texas Sales Tax ID # is 1-74-1953223-3. The only VFW Post in Southeast San Antonio and Southeast Bexar County. Most of our 280 Veteran members and 200 Auxiliary members live in the immediate area of the Post to include the LaVernia and Elmendorf area.
We are dedicated to financial and physical assistance to our Disabled Veterans, Homeless Veterans, their children and spouses, as well as scheduling numerous youth and adult activities at our post to foster good relationships in the local community. Each year we sponsor the Jr. ROTC program for five high schools: Brackenridge, Highlands High, East Central, Sam Houston, and South San Antonio. Additionally, we sponsor these High Schools and several Junior High Schools in our National Voice of Democracy (VOD), and Patriot’s Pen contests which result in cash prizes and scholarships. We also recognize Teacher, EMS, and Firefighter of the year by providing those recipients with monetary awards. The different programs that we sponsor within our community are drug awareness, home and fire safety, and Girl Scouts. All the programs we offer are strictly volunteer efforts. To carry out this active agenda we must rely on the proceeds we receive from our fundraising activities and/or support of our local business establishments.
