History of W-L Crew; W-L Crew is one of the most storied high school teams in the country. The program was started in 1949 by legendary coach Charlie Butt to provide access to the sport to a public high school. W-L Crew has had a long history of competitive success nationally and internationally to include multiple national champions and victories at Royal Henley. The program has produced and continues to produce elite rowers with medalists in world and Olympic championships. Many of the team's alumni have become high school, college, and national team coaches. Our athletes train hard and excel academically. Most of our athletes are in advanced studies and are honors students. Every year multiple team members are accepted to the best universities in the nation.
