Since 1910, YWCA has been serving women and families. Our mission statement is eliminating racism and empowering women. We provide the following programs and services: infant and toddler care, kindergarten readiness, before and aftershool programs, Community Health Workers Training Academy, Family Literacy programs, House of Teens for high school girls, STRIVE for middle school girls, youth sports, dance and theater, Classrooms for children in DCF care, Sexual Assault Crisis Services in 46 communities. 74% of the individuals served are defined as "working poor," living at or below the national poverty level. For this reason, many of our programs and services are provided on a sliding scale basis.
