Abby's Angels was founded in memory of sweet Abby, who was 9 years old when she earned her angel wings on Christmas Day 2012 as a result of injuries sustained in a car wreck caused by a distracted teen driver. She gave the Gift of Life through organ donation, saving four lives. Her family established the foundation to forever remember Abby and to keep her kind, giving and joyful spirit alive.
The work of the Abby’s Angels Foundation includes:
Safe Teen Driving---We sponsor a monthly accident avoidance course in Coweta County (GA) through our partnership with Fear This 4 Life, Inc. (www.tvoc.ws). Over 1200 teens and young adults have completed this life-saving course since 2015. In addition, Abby’s mom, Natalie, regularly shares our #1Life1Choice safe driving message at area high schools and businesses. Natalie strongly advocated for the 2018 Hands Free Georgia law, which is already reducing the number of accidents and traffic fatalities throughout Georgia.
Abby’s Closets—Abby LOVED to shop for school supplies and from that love, Abby's Closets were born. Currently, there are 50 Abby’s Closets providing free school supplies all year long to children in need in K-12 schools in Coweta, Carroll, Fayette and Heard counties (GA) plus West Virginia, Texas, & Alabama. We hope to continue to install Abby’s Closets throughout the Metro Atlanta area.
Grief Counseling—In 2019, as a result of an initial grant from the Newnan Junior Service League, we began a partnership with Kate’s Club to provide free grief counseling for local children who have lost a parent, sibling or primary caregiver. After losing Abby, who was the middle child of three girls, the Bacho family discovered how hard it was to find counselors who worked with grieving children, so our foundation is hoping to fill that gap in service.
College Scholarships--Abby’s Angels Foundation awards five $1000 college scholarships to deserving high school seniors who have completed the Fear This 4 Life class and who embrace our #1Life1Choice safe driving message. To date, $22,000 in scholarships have been awarded.
