The Hawthorne Elementary School Foundation is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit foundation whose mission is to support a superior academic experience for every child at Hawthorne Elementary School through the financial support of short and long-term initiatives. The Foundation Board of Directors consists of members of the Hawthorne Elementary School parent body and/or community, faculty, the Principal as well as leaders of the PTA and School Council. We help bridge the gap from district funding to give every student at Hawthorne an exceptional education.
Your Hawthorne Foundation supports:
Professional Development–
- Continuing Education Training for HES Staff Members, including those seeking Gifted Endorsements
- Instructional Fees
- Books and Materials
- Substitute Teacher Pay
Curriculum Enrichment-
- Certified Technology Teacher and French Teacher for K-5 students to provide Computer/Technology Instruction and French Language/Culture Instruction (past years)
- An additional 50 minutes of planning time per week for classroom teachers to plan, prepare, record grades, assess performance, etc.
- Aquaponics, Chicken Coop, and STEM garden
Materials and Supplies-
- New iMac Computers, Repairs, and Supplies for the Computer Pitt
- iPads and Apps as a Pilot Program for staff and student use
- Voice amplification systems for classrooms with hearing-impaired students
- General Education, Special Education, ESOL, and Discovery materials and supplies
Miscellaneous Needs-
- New, safer playground equipment
- Drainage study for flooding issues in the playground areas
- Better playground equipment accessibility for students of all abilities
