Our church and pastor are very involved in meeting with community leaders, especially the Borough Council and Catasauqua School District PAYS Committee, to assess the needs of our immediate community (at this time, affordable housing/homelessness are #1) and addressing those needs. We host free events (currently, free soup/supper every Wednesday night) for the community as well as dinners (by donation rather than ticket price, so that anyone can afford to come), with 100% of those proceeds going to area organizations such as the Allentown Warming Station, Tunnels to Towers, Pennsylvania Wounded Warriors, Street Medicine by Lehigh Valley Hospital, Easter Seals summer camp scholarships, and Haven House. Our women's group leads us in supporting organizations including Cay Galgon Life House, Kindness Project, Suicide Prevention, Community Action of the Lehigh Valley, Turning Point, Sixth Street Shelter, Peaceable Kingdom, the Catasauqua Public Library, and many others on a monthly basis. Our youth hold fundraisers to carry on their sponsorship of a child through World Vision, they participate annually in the World Vision 30-Hour Famine to raise awareness of and raise funds to fight World Hunger, as well as hostong a fundraiser to benefit Tails of Valor, Paws of Honor.  Our congregation donates annually to the Catasauqua Library, the Catasauqua Food Bank, the Catasauqua Thrift Store, local Boy Scouts, Catasauqua School District, and Bear Creek Lutheran Camp. Our doors have welcomed many homeless or otherwise economically-challenged individuals, paying out emergency funds for shelter, utility bills, food, gas, clothing, etc. We host families through Family Promise of the Lehigh Valley, providing shelter, meals, and hospitality for a week each quarter. We have a volunteer who assists walk-ins from the community with applications for Social Security disability benefits, medical assistance, rent rebates, and SNAP benefits. Our unique purpose: to serve the Catasauqua community in a way that provides financial assistance with a human touch, while not neglecting larger world need (such as our recent donation of over $5000 for Ukraine aid).
