e McMaster Physical Activity Centre of Excellence (PACE) is a state-of-the-art, exercise research and training centre affiliated with the University’s world-renowned Department of Kinesiology. Our scientists, students and staff are devoted to studying and improving health and well-being among older adults and people with chronic disease or disability. A unique integration of client-centered academic research, experiential learning, and career exploration is the ethos of PACE. The centre allows students to enhance their educational experience, while contributing to the effective rehabilitation of the participants in our community programs, which offer safe and individualized programs for people living with cardiovascular disease, cancer, spinal cord injury, and multiple sclerosis. Exercise rehabilitation plays an important role in the recovery and maintenance of health, the reduction of symptoms among people with a chronic disease, and is becoming increasingly acknowledged among health care professionals.
