The Port Aransas Boatmen's Association is committed to promoting boating safety, insuring high standards in fishing while being stewards of sea by encouraging conservation among local fisheries. We also promote good will with the citizens of Port Aransas by sponsoring community events and scholarships for graduting seniors at Port Aransas High School. We have a Junior Boatmen group that is also supported by PABA the does many events throughout the year including fishing trips and hunting excursions to teach proper etiquette, responsibilty and good sportsmanship.
The Deep Sea Roundup fishing tournament is our primary effort for raising funds for PABA and the Junior Boatmen. We host 600 to 800 anglers annually that compete for bragging rights and beautiful trophies. We have an adult, junior, kayak and fly fish divisions. We also host a two day piggy perch contest for the youngest of anglers.
The monies raised from our tournament is used each year to fund community events such as Project Graduation, Old Town Festival, Ellis Memorial Library Summer Reading Program, Emergency Services Toy Roundup and many more. We also provide around 20 graduating seniors with scholarships.
