For 36 years, Rose of Sharon Services for Young Mothers has provided free supportive programs and educational services in York Region annually to 300 prenatal and parenting youth mothers(14-29 years) while they build greater stability in the lives of their children(0-6 years). Our programs empower young mothers to embrace their strengths, build parenting skills, increase child development knowledge and develop their personal capacity to overcome barriers. Offered online and on-site in a welcoming, safe and inclusive space - youth parents set goals and work toward building the future they envision for themselves and their children. In response to COVID-19, Rose of Sharon immediately implemented client and staff safety protocols, pivoted programs and services to provide free online high school, virtual parenting, personal and child development online programs and telephone-based personal counselling.Youth moms have access to donated household/practical support items and may be eligible to receive pandemic family care packages of food, baby nutrition and diapers. 100% of the free programs and services that we offer are funded thanks to community support.
As a registered charity, Rose of Sharon relies on the generous financial support of individuals, businesses, service groups, community partners, foundations and grant funders to finance 100% of the free programs and services that we offer.
