The National Association of Junior Auxiliaries, Inc. (NAJA) is a 501(c)(3) organization with over 15,000 members. Our mission is to provide support, resources, and educational, leadership, cultural and specialized training for NAJA members in order to optimize community service by our Chapters. There are 98 NAJA Chapters serving their communities in 7 states (Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri and Tennessee). Last year our Chapters served over 225,000 children and families. Chapter projects include mentoring and tutoring programs for at risk children, hosting camps for disabled children, ensuring children have food, clothes and school supplies, working with foster children, distributing books, providing support to women's shelters and child victims, encouraging healthy habits, hosting conferences for teen girls to instill self-esteem, sponsoring safely fairs and like skills workshops, providing dental care, vision and audio screenings, and hygiene training, adopting families, providing food on weekends, school breaks and in the summer for children in the free or reduced lunch program, sponsoring summer and reading camps, organizing spelling bees, helping with Veterans Day celebrations, visiting seniors in nursing homes, sponsoring pen pal projects to enhance penmanship and encourage literacy, fingerprinting children, awarding scholarships, sponsoring Crown Clubs which train high school girls in community volunteerism and prepare them for future leadership roles, providing cultural opportunities such as art camps, presenting programs on bullying, stranger danger and child abuse, sponsoring speakers in the community, and collecting and distributing toys to children at Christmas. All Chapters are required to have at least one National Service Project which seeks to break the cycle of dependency whether it be physical or emotional. Our goal is to make our communities a better place to live. Our slogan is "Caring Hearts. Helping Hands. Changing Lives." and our current National Focus is "Stand Up, Stand Strong, Stand Together." Our logo contains a five-point crown with the points symbolizing Charity, Youth, Health, Service and Leadership. Junior Auxiliary represents a serious endeavor on the part of women to be active and constructive participants and to assume leadership roles in meeting community needs. NAJA was founded over 80 years ago on the principles of helping children and making a difference in their lives.
